Hair colour Bar
Every colour treatment starts with a consultation, either on the day of your colouring appointment or on a pre-visit. This would take place in a space dedicated to hair colour only – clean, modern, comfortable and air conditioned, naturally, but importantly, a space designed for your colourist to perform for you at their best.
We call our colourists ‘Colour Artists’, they are professionals, and some are certified Redken specialists.
They will all help you select exactly the right shades, tints, highlights or lowlights that suit you. Before giving you advise they take into account, skin tone, eye colour and the season as well as lifestyle, personality and the makeup you wear.
That’s why we encourage you to do the talking while we listen, especially on your first visit, when we are getting to know you. It’s a relaxed and informal discussion. It’s not intrusive though we might make a few notes for future reference.
After care when colouring is not an after thought at the Colour Bar as the integrity of the hair’s condition before and after the process makes all the difference to the final result and the longevity of your new colour.
We will suggest a pre-treatment if necessary and recommend the correct after care products to protect against excessive colour fade and ensure that your hair’s cuticle of lays flat and reflects your new colour with radiance. Finally not leaving anything to chance we will apply your first treatment free.

Skin Sensitivity test
For your own safety we ask you to comply with this very simple precedure 48 hours before your appointment if the following applies:
- It is your first colour with us
- You are planning a complete colour change ( if unsure ask)
- If our colour was not the last colour applied to your hair
- If you have not had a colour with us for 6 months
- If you are taking ongoing prescribed medications sinse your last colour
- you would would prefer to have one anyway
We love colouring hair but not at the expense of your safety. We appreciate that those that have a reaction to colour is a very very very small percentage and that you may see that this precautionary measure as an inconvenience. So we thought you may like to know in advance what a skin sensitivity test involves and thank you for your cooperation.
Please tell your stylist if you are taking any anti- histamine as this can temporarily desensitise your skin and interfere with a true test.
- We first, remove earrings.
- Then, behind the ear and using a cotton-bud, we apply a little of the unmixed product sufficient to cover an area of 1 to 2cm2 (eg. The size of a small coin).
- We then re-apply 2 or 3 times allowing it to dry between each application.
- We then ask you to leave for 48 hours without washing, covering or touching.
If during the course of this period you or we notice any abnormal reactions such as intense reddening, itching or swelling in or around the test area, please rinse off the test area and contact us so we can rearrange your appointment. In this unlikely circumstance WE WILL NOT APPLY THE COLOURANT and we will recommend that you seek medical advice before any further colour applications are made.
If after 48 hours the skin allergy test remains negative, which WE ARE PLEASED TO SAY IS MORE NORMAL we can proceed to apply the colour.
